Most of us get to travel the world after years and years of hard work where we save every penny we can.

This 10-week old baby has already gotten us beat hands down. Meet Esme, the youngest backpacker who saw the world at 10 weeks old.

How did that happen you ask?

Well, weeks after giving birth, Karen Edwards and partner, Shaun Baynes, took their daughter to spend Edwards' maternity leave in style - and when we mean by style we mean a trip around the globe.

Talk about making the most out of your maternity leave.

They boarded a plane and traveled the entire duration of Edwards' maternity leave which was roughly about 10 months or 52 weeks.

Esme was only 11 weeks old in November of 2014 when her parents decided to sell their car and rent their house in hopes of incorporating Esme into their lifestyle.

Both Edwards and Baynes are experienced backpackers and did not want to stop traveling just because there was addition to their family.

They headed off to Ireland (where Edwards was from) then New Zealand (where Baynes was from) and finished their journey in major parts of Asia namely Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan and Hong Kong and Australia only to return on September of 2015.

Esme's parents made sure that she was covered with all the travel vacciantions she needed before they left London and during their time in New Zealand. As a precaution, they strategically planned their trip so that they avoided countries where there was a high risk of malaria.

During her interview with Daily Mail, Edwards explained they were able to fund the entire trip - which was roughly around $14K - through her maternity leave pay and her husband's landscaping work here and there during their travels.

Edwards' maintains an Instagram account called Travel Mad Mum where she documents their journey around the globe.

“All I want to try and do is incorporate her [Esmé] into our way of life. We both love traveling and can’t see why we should stop or change our lives. I am confident the different sites, smells and sounds will stimulate all of her senses. She gets stir crazy just as much as I do when we sit around the house for too long so I am sure this can only be good for her.”

Seems like Esme will be one grand explorer when she grows up!

A lot of us have to wait a few more years to save up and travel to another country and she's been to more than 10 of the most beautiful!

Either way, if you live in a country where paid maternity leave is 10 months long, travel with your newborn because according to Karen, it was one of the best decisions she's ever made.
